Slowly, slowly, slowly I am going through piles of fabric, thread, fusible ‘stuff’, and everything else I have accumulated over the years.
Yuck. Mostly I hate thinking about doing it, and in my mature adult years I have become good at procrastinating. It is easy for me to ignore piles, dust, dirt, and then sit down and go into a world of my own. I wish I had that compulsive housecleaning/decorating gene, but I don’t. But yesterday, in a rare moment of ‘decluttering’, I pulled out stuff from my closet, under the bed, the piles of fabric I have stashed here and there, and began the job.
I suppose I should be horrified at myself, but it is what it is and I am who I am. (NOTE: In the past, when I was younger, I actually LIKED organizing my stuff and my room. But that was way before I had so much stuff that it became onerous).
I did throw away stuff that was old, broken, of just stupid. (Who needs a 6 inch by 2 inch scrap of orange fabric? I could throw that one away easily).
But now I find myself with some give-aways. I have several yards of beautiful fleece/flannel in red, yellow and blue:
The colors are much brighter than they look here. I have 3/4 of a yard of each, plus some goodly lengths of red and blue.
Then, I also have these 3 inch triangles and squares, leftovers from some pillow projects; I’ve kept them thinking I would make some random pillows from them as gifts, and realized that I never would. But I could not throw them away, so they are up for grabs:
See what I mean? These are too good to throw away, so I am giving them away. (Note: I DID post them on Freecycle, but I have had no responses yet.
Finally, I located, ironed, and measured this that was a gift from someone long ago who knew I loved fabric. I believe it is Japanese fabric in dark blue and white. I have at least 12 yards of it, but it is less that 15 inches wide. I have no idea what to do with it.
I don’t think I am giving this away yet, but I am looking for suggestions as to what to do with it. Any ideas?
