Sewing My Life Together

There’s Been No Sewing Going On…

Well, there’s been a sorry state of affairs around here since my last post. I think I sat down at my sewing machine for all of about ten minutes in the past 10 days. And I have barely seen Daughter Number 2. There have been trips to the doctor (me and Daughter Number 2), one sick day (me), three sick days (Daughter number 2), appointments with accountant for taxes to be done, evening work for my day job (autism specialist)….plus more…

A Huge Family Event occurred the weekend of March 24-25….we celebrated my Mother-in-law’s 90th birthday with relatives arriving for the weekend from New York, Pennsylvania, D.C., Spain, Maryland,  Denver and more….

So we spent a loud and fun Friday night, Saturday all day and Saturday night with the extended Michaels family (including my 6, 4 and 1 year old grand-nieces, not shown in this photo)…we had great fun, but it was exhausting! This includes Daughter Number 1 who flew in from Denver to spend 6 days with us at home….

And then Daughter Number 2 had a birth-mother to meet, husband and I had two concerts to attend (Drop-kick Murphys and Bruce Springsteen) and it has been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Tonight we take Daughter Number 1 to the airport to go home to Denver (mixed feelings: Love her, love having her at home, and will miss her, but looking forward to some quiet time again)….

Sewing notes: I am working on a Block-of-the-Month and picked up the new ones March 16; bought some extra fabric to recreate a block that I am not satisfied with (photos to come), and bought a pillow kit to sew with Daughter Number 2 when we have time…

And “sew” it goes (sorry, I could not resist the pun). What was it John Lennon said? “Life is what happens to us while we are busy making other plans”.  I don’t always have time to sew. When I am happily busy, like in the last two weeks, I do not miss it. Instead, I fall into bed exhausted and dream deep dreams. When I am sewing, I fall into bed happy and dream peaceful dreams. There is time for it all.
